Hello Stampers!
Welcome to Get Carded by Jo Anne! I am a Stampin' Up demonstrator and here's my confession - I'm addicted to stamping.
I'm using this blog format to reach out to my stamping friends to share fun ideas and projects.
Here's a fun and easy project that looks much more difficult than it is. I made this card using torn paper as a template. The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (p. 90) using Basic Black ink. I used two new colors with this card - Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding, but you could try dozens of different combinations. In fact, in the photos below I used Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush. (You can find the 2013-2015 In Color Collection on p. 140 in the new 2013-2014 catalog.)
I used Pistachio Pudding card stock cut to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4". The layer underneath (layers always add more interest!) is from the Designers Series stack (p. 141) cut to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8", and the top layer is Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/8 x 3 7/8".
See photo on left. Tear the paper diagonally to create the template. Don't worry about keeping it straight. Those little divots make your background more interesting. The photo on the right shows how you keep the template in place as you dab on color. I used sponge daubers (p. 164) to dab and pull the Coastal Cabana ink onto the paper first. I left white spaces so that I could then apply the Strawberry Slush. The initial effect is somewhat unimpressive - until you stamp your final image OVER your background using the same templates.
